The Mask is Herbert van Thal’s first collection, originally published in the 1930s as Child Performer.
Rescued from obscurity by Johnny Mains, the book contains a number of van Thal’s short stories, as well as a selection of other rarities, including a letter to his godsons, introductions to other books and an essay on van Thal and JS Le Fanu.
